I’m going to outline my betting strategy through the series and what I’ll be doing going forward, but first, a little Z-Code analysis:

A mixed signal shows three-star underdog value on the Bruins, two-star odds to win favorites on the Blackhawks, and a 56/44 ML % odds to win on the Blackhawks. In short, this is a volatile game with a slight lean to the Hawks and conflicting parameters. The +1.5 line is 75% likely to hit, so the computer will continue to ride that bet. I won’t.

Short and sweet, but I don’t really see any reason to change our approach here. We skimmed our losses in Game One with our +1.5 bet, and it’s helped our profits in Game Two and Game Three.

With two consecutive full sweep wins, I’m not changing anything. We’ll again take the alternate puck line and Bruins +1.5, combined with the under and the Bruins ML.

After a perfect prediction last night on the Kings and Sharks, I’m not sure where we go from here. We hit the 96% recommended +1.5 line, we hit the Sharks ML, we hit the under, and we got the 2-1 score exactly right in our prediction below. A truly perfect pick.

The Blackhawks came out flat in Game Two and the Red Wings capitalized. In one of our most polarizing predictions of the playoffs (see posts below), Game Three could give a team a big edge.

I still think the Blackhawks are the better team, and one game doesn’t change my mind about that. I still think this series will be a grind, and had it going seven games. I still think the Blackhawks have too much chemistry and too much depth. I love the two-way players on this roster and think they can shut down an aging Red Wings team.

The Pittsburgh Penguins made a gutsy move to sit their franchise goaltender in favor of a veteran that was run out of the last two teams he played for.

As a backup, Vokoun was mediocre, but the Penguins needed a spark. He shut out a scrappy Islanders team and put the Penguins in position to close out the series. Back in net for the second game in a row, I think the Penguins and Vokoun will get that goal accomplished.

The Islanders are very close to making it back to the postseason. They’re hot at the right time, and their second line has been incredibly productive since the trade deadline. With two lines of offensive production, a hot goalie, and a solid core group of defensemen, the Isles are on the move.

The Canes haven’t played well since Cam Ward’s injury (and Alexander Semin’s extension for that matter). I think at -140 you have to like the Isles here.

One of my greatest hockey memories came last season… Game Seven, double overtime, first round of the playoffs. The Jets are great at home, but they’re not a deep team. I don’t think they’re very talented offensively, and their goaltending is extremely streaky. On home ice they play well, but against the perennial playoff team in the south.

If Pavelec comes to play, this is a tough pick. The Jets defense is big and physical and they can wear down the Caps’ awesome top six.
