NHL Playoffs Picks and Predictions: Pittsburgh Penguins at New York Islanders
The Pittsburgh Penguins made a gutsy move to sit their franchise goaltender in favor of a veteran that was run out of the last two teams he played for.
As a backup, Vokoun was mediocre, but the Penguins needed a spark. He shut out a scrappy Islanders team and put the Penguins in position to close out the series. Back in net for the second game in a row, I think the Penguins and Vokoun will get that goal accomplished.
We have a heavy line for our series bet, but up 3-2 it’s looking good. We don’t want to press this, as back to back losses will be devastating when combined with our series loss. In fact, if the Isles win here, I’m hedging out at +200 or better in Game Seven on the road.
That said, I don’t think it will come to that. We have some strong Z-Code support, even on the road. The Penguins are by far the better team. The Pens have sorted themselves out, and with even the tiniest bit of consistency in net I think they take this one.
