This series is going to be so much fun. These games are always tight. Lots of overtime, lots of bad blood. Last year this was the most intense playoff series of the playoffs, arguably… maybe except Devils Panthers in the first round (a double overtime thriller in the elimination game that I was at in game 7). These teams matchup so evenly…
Rangers finished the year very hot, but they started Lundqvist 15 consecutive times.
The Caps also finished hot, and after their horrible start they may be the hottest team in hockey since they truend this around. Ovechkin is on fire… and the magic you feel when you watch him has returned to his game.
It’s going to come down to caps goaltending… Rick Nash is the only weapon worth fearing on the Rangers. They have other big names, but Richards and others never really put it together… the defense is in shambles… Staals injury has them reeling and the top defensive pairing will burn out over time.
The Caps can wear out the Rangers, and it starts with a game one win.
I’m going small again, but I think the Caps can take this series.
