NHL Predictions: Can Toronto Maple Leafs continue winning streak?

The NHL season is around 24 games old and a picture is being formed of which teams are playoff contenders. The Toronto Maple Leafs, who haven’t won the Stanley Cup since 1967, currently lead major sportsbooks’ Stanley Cup futures betting odds. Will the Maples Leafs continue their great play on Wednesday night or will the San Jose Sharks bring it to an end?

San Jose Sharks vs. Toronto Maple Leafs The Maple Leafs go into Wednesday night’s game against the San Jose Sharks at odds of +450 to win the Stanley Cup. According to leading bookies, Toronto  ...

NHL predictions: February 2nd

It’s a short list of games in the NHL on Friday night February 2nd. Reigning NHL Stanley Cup winners, the Pittsburgh Penguins, will be on the ice. Surprise package expansion team Vegas Golden Knights will also play. The NHL regular season is nearly two-thirds of the way finished. There is still plenty of space for teams to jockey as the NHL Playoffs loom.

Free NHL Picks Contest ($100 Prize): Flyers Hurricanes

NHL Picks Contest ($100 Prize): Philadelphia Flyers at Carolina Hurricanes

Tuesday, February 23rd In what I thought was a total toss up in Detroit ended up with quite a slanted contest pool, as most of you were on the Boston Bruins when they fell to the Detroit Red Wings in a thrilling 6-5 game. The home team, again, prevailed and the leaderboard shook up a little more. Here, in a battle of two desperate teams just outside the playoff race, I expect another exciting battle.

The Philadelphia Flyers are notoriously tough and a little dirty. They’re also known for being  ...

NHL Picks Contest: Boston Bruins at Detroit Red Wings ($100 Prize)

NHL Picks Contest ($100 Prize): Boston Bruins at Detroit Red Wings

Sunday, February 14th With the NFL season over following the Denver Broncos’ Super Bowl victory (that we nailed, by the way), NHL hockey takes over as my favorite thing to watch on Sundays. The Boston Bruins face the Detroit Red Wings in Detroit in a matinee matchup between two teams hoping to hold on to strong first halves and make the playoffs. The Red Wings have a long playoffs streak to cling to, but have seen their share of ups and downs this year. The Bruins, on the  ...

NHL Picks: Detroit Red Wings at Florida Panthers

NHL Picks: Detroit Red Wings at Florida Panthers Historically, the Detroit Red Wings just aren’t the same team on the road as they are when they play in HockeyTown. The Red Wings are an average team this year, flirting with an end to their lengthy playoff streak.

The Florida Panthers have surged to the top record in their division and the second-best record in the Eastern Conference. They have good young skaters (except Jaromir Jagr) and have gotten excellent goaltending. The team is really coming together and they’re streaky. Right now, they are on another winning streak and look sharp.

NHL Picks: New Year’s Eve – Islanders, Caps, Ducks, Red Wings, Blackhawks

NHL Picks: New Year’s Eve Hockey Predictions

Islanders, Red Wings, Capitals, Blackhawks, Ducks Happy New Year to everyone. In what I hope will be a nice way to end the year, I am posting all five of our forum selections for today. I am on the New York Islanders, Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals, Chicago Blackhawks, and Anaheim Ducks.

I like the Islanders to take out the Buffalo Sabres because they have been handling business against weaker teams. Even on the road, I see a lot of value in this line. The Sabres lack depth and the Islanders have explosive  ...

NHL Picks: Buffalo Sabres at Detroit Red Wings

NHL Picks: Buffalo Sabres at Detroit Red Wings Don’t forget, today features a contest game between the Colorado Avalanche and New Jersey Devils! That game, obviously is not a system pick because I view it as something of a coin flip. The New Jersey Devils are hard to trust with their offense the way it is, and the Devils defense makes them a threat to beat anyone – especially the lowly Colorado Avalanche.

Here, I like the Detroit Red Wings at home. The Red Wings are a great team at home historically, and much of my analysis that led us  ...

NHL Picks: Florida Panthers at Detroit Red Wings

NHL Picks: Florida Panthers at Detroit Red Wings I like the Florida Panthers. My greatest hockey memory is probably the double-overtime playoff thriller they hosted against my New Jersey Devils that began their (somewhat) improbable Stanley Cup run a few years ago. They’re young, they’ve got a goalie with personality, and they are on their way up towards sustained mediocrity from the depths of hockey despair a few years ago. You can root for the Florida Panthers, I just won’t be doing it here.

The Detroit Red Wings are the opposite of the upstart Florida Panthers. This is Hockey Town.  ...

NHL Atlantic Division Picks 2015-16: Canadiens, Bruins, Lightning

2015-16 Atlantic Division Predictions: Habs, Bruins, Bolts

Last year, the Boston Bruins collapsed and fell all the way out of playoff contention. The Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning took huge steps forward and dominated the rest of the division in their place. Can the Bruins bounce back? Are the Habs Stanley Cup contenders? Can the Tampa Bay Lightning take the next step? Let’s see.

1. Boston Bruins (103 pts): A value play at +500 and 10:1 long shots to win the Stanley Cup, I’m not sure why people are completely writing off the Boston Bruins. Yes, they fell apart  ...

NHL Picks: Buffalo Sabres at Detroit Red Wings

NHL Picks: Buffalo Sabres at Detroit Red Wings The line is a little rough, but the Detroit Red Wings have slumped long enough. It’s hard to believe that they have gone on losing like this. They jumped out to one of the best records in the league before this skid.

The score predictor thinks the Sabres can win, but there’s an 81% chance of victory for the Red Wings according to the algorithm. I don’t think the Sabres defense or goaltending is strong enough to shut down the Red Wings and in Detroit they’re a different team.

This is a tough  ...
