NHL Picks Contest ($100 Prize): Philadelphia Flyers at Carolina Hurricanes
Tuesday, February 23rd

In what I thought was a total toss up in Detroit ended up with quite a slanted contest pool, as most of you were on the Boston Bruins when they fell to the Detroit Red Wings in a thrilling 6-5 game. The home team, again, prevailed and the leaderboard shook up a little more. Here, in a battle of two desperate teams just outside the playoff race, I expect another exciting battle.

The Philadelphia Flyers are notoriously tough and a little dirty. They’re also known for being a little bit more difficult to beat at home. As their season begins to slip away, can they make a stand on the road? On the other side, the Carolina Hurricanes have battled back from last season’s catastrophe. The Canes, at the time of this writing, are building momentum and chasing the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

It’s a little bit early, but it’s possible a loss here could create too much space and too many teams between the loser and the playoffs race. In an important game, who do you have? As always, simply comment on this post to participate. It’s still just about anyone’s game, and it’s always more fun with more people involved. Realistically, as we saw, a surge from the middle of the pack is certainly possible at this stage of things if the leader stumbles.
