I like the Islanders to take out the Buffalo Sabres because they have been handling business against weaker teams. Even on the road, I see a lot of value in this line. The Sabres lack depth and the Islanders have explosive scoring.
Islanders 4 – Sabres 2

I like the Detroit Red Wings to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins. Even though the Penguins are the better team on paper, it’s tough to win in Detroit and Pittsburgh has been awful this year.
Red Wings 2 – Penguins 1

I am on the Washington Capitals to beat the Carolina Hurricanes. This is a divisional rivalry game, but the Caps might just be the best team in the East this year. Against an inferior team, I think they will be able to control the pace of the game and come away with a win.
Caps 3 – Hurricanes 2

The Chicago Blackhawks are one of the most consistent teams in hockey. I like them to go on the road and find a way against an inconsistent Colorado Avalanche team, even though the Avs have been better of late.
Blackhawks 4 – Avalanche 3

The Anaheim Ducks have been a huge disappointment so far this year, but I’m not ready to give up on them yet. On the road against a young Oilers team, I think the Ducks find a way. They’re the better team and they need to turn things around coming into the second half of the season.
Ducks 3 – Oilers 1
