NHL Picks: Buffalo Sabres at Detroit Red Wings

Don’t forget, today features a contest game between the Colorado Avalanche and New Jersey Devils! That game, obviously is not a system pick because I view it as something of a coin flip. The New Jersey Devils are hard to trust with their offense the way it is, and the Devils defense makes them a threat to beat anyone – especially the lowly Colorado Avalanche.

Here, I like the Detroit Red Wings at home. The Red Wings are a great team at home historically, and much of my analysis that led us to bite on a 2-1 overtime loss to the Panthers holds here. I think they’re the much better team in this matchup with the Buffalo Sabres, and as a result I see value in a similar line to our recent loss. I expect them to win this game.

The Buffalo Sabres are a weak team. They lack depth and they lack scoring. They are capable of stringing together unlikely wins and we’ve seen as much already this year, but the Buffalo Sabres stumble on the road and against the league’s elite.

The computer agrees, showing a decent signal with three stars of value on a sharp line with a nearly 70% chance of victory. That’s good enough for me to go double or nothing against the Sabres here by supporting the Red Wings again.
