NBA 2016 Season Preview: The West

NBA 2016 Preview: The West Golden State Warriors 72-10 The Warriors were dominant last year breaking the Chicago Bulls’ record for most wins in a season. They, however, performed poorly by comparison in the playoffs where they narrowly beat the Thunder and then lost to the Cavs in the championship series. The Warriors have made a series of roster moves that stands to improve on what was arguably already the best all-around squad in the NBA. Harrison Barnes and Andrew Bogut are the most notable players they lost in free agency. However, the acquisition of superstar, Kevin Durant, outweighs the  ...

NHL Playoffs Picks: LA Kings at San Jose Sharks Game Three

NHL Playoffs Picks: LA Kings at San Jose Sharks

I think the LA Kings are the better team here, and I think that they have enough defense and goaltending to turn this series around on the road. The LA Kings lost two tough games at home, and as the series shifts to San Jose, the desperation will be high. They should be able to finally get things going.

The San Jose Sharks have surprised me in the beginning of this series. They look sharp and have the ability to score clutch goals and muscle out wins. The defensive system of the  ...

NHL Picks: Montreal Canadiens at LA Kings

NHL Picks: Montreal Canadiens at LA Kings Consider of all our logic and reasoning from last night’s win against the Montreal Canadiens, add a back to back, and substitute a team that has won four of five instead of nine in a row. It looks like an awfully similar equation, and I like the LA Kings to beat the Habs tonight.

The Canadiens are playing better, as evidenced by the overtime battle they just had on the road with one of the best teams in hockey. Now, however, they will insert a backup goalie for the man who kept them  ...

NHL Picks: LA Kings at St. Louis Blues

NHL Picks: LA Kings at St. Louis Blues  I still hate the LA Kings. I still have all the jabs I used when betting against them earlier this week. I still think they’re a bunch of terrible fans and a terrible organization. I have very much enjoyed their struggles on this grueling road trip. I will try to suck out a little more money from this road trip as the LA Kings offense continues to struggle and they take on one of the best defenses in hockey, with one of the hottest goalies right now, when they visit the St.  ...

NHL Picks: LA Kings at Washington Capitals

NHL Picks: LA Kings at Washington Capitals I do not like the LA Kings. I don’t really try to hide my hatred, either. I am a fan of the New Jersey Devils and the officiating in that Stanley Cup was among the worst I’ve ever seen. To lose on a retaliation boarding following a missed call against Gionta is something I will never let go of. Moreover, the fans of the LA Kings, and even their organization through social media and other venues, proved themselves to be a big bag of dicks.

As such, I was pretty happy when my Devils  ...

NHL Picks: LA Kings at Calgary Flames

NHL Picks: LA Kings at Calgary Flames

For how important this game is to the LA Kings, I’m amazed at how much value there is in the line. The Kings did just fall to the Canucks in overtime and then again to the Edmonton Oilers, and I guess the Calgary Flames have won four of five. Sure, momentum is not on their side – but this is a team of proven winners that can overcome fatigue and move into a tie with the Flames for last place with one to play. Because the Flames play the Jets to close out the  ...

FREE NHL Picks Contest ($100 Prize): Flames at Avalanche

NHL Picks Contest ($100 Prize): Calgary Flames at Colorado Avalanche

Saturday, March 14th

The Calgary Flames are in position to contend for a playoff spot this year. They’ve been better on the road this year and found a goalie who can win them hockey games. Meanwhile, the Colorado Avalanche have been incredibly disappointing after a wildly successful season last year. The Avalanche are playing better lately, though, and they look good at home. Who do you have winning this one in Colorado, straight up? Simply comment on this post pinned to the top of our Facebook page to participate!

We had an exciting contest round last week – most of our audience was divided on the game and it ended up being a 1-0 overtime thriller with the Pens triumphing over the Kings in LA. There’s a lot of clutter at the top, and it’s still anyone’s game. Remember – first to ten wins gets the $100 Prize and don’t  ...

Free NHL Picks Contest ($100): Pittsburgh Penguins at LA Kings

NHL Picks Contest ($100 Prize): Pittsburgh Penguins at LA Kings

Saturday, March 7th

The LA Kings seem to make it to the Stanley Cup Final every year, while the Pittsburgh Penguins seem to be preseason favorites each season. This is a battle of two of the premier teams in hockey. The Penguins will be a long way from home, but I think they’re the better team overall – especially in the regular season. Meanwhile, the LA Kings have been surging of late and on their own ice they certainly are difficult to beat.

Who do you think will win? As always, our NHL Picks Contest is free to participate. Simple comment on this post, pinned to the top of our Facebook page, to participate.

Here are our NHL Picks Contest standings after the Penguins defeated the Caps (A game we predicted the score exactly if you followed along on game day). Congrats to our new leader, Duane:

NHL Picks: LA Kings at Calgary Flames

NHL Picks: LA Kings at Calgary Flames The Calgary Flames have been putting up a fight this year. Fresh off another lengthy skid, they seem to have corrected things with two wins in a row. The offense clicks at home, and the Flames have found a goalie to replace Kipper. They’re not the team we picked on the last couple seasons, and 9-6-2 record at home is worth noting – as is their 19-15-3 record overall. This is a decent team.

That said, the LA Kings, on paper, are the much better team. They’re on the road here, but I trust their  ...

NHL Stanley Cup Final Predictions: LA Kings at NY Rangers Game Four

NHL Picks, Stanley Cup Finals Game Four: LA Kings at New York Rangers

What a great few games. There’s some conflict in the algorithm here, but strong signals for the Kings seem to be a general theme. This looks like a 50/50 coin flip game that we expect to be relatively close. The Kings are finding ways to win and Quick has been what Rangers fans hoped Lundqvist would be.

I don’t necessarily agree with the 99% call on the +1.5 line on the Kings. The danger of an empty netter alone should be reason enough for this dramatic figure  ...
