NHL Picks: LA Kings at Calgary Flames

NHL Picks: LA Kings at Calgary Flames

The Calgary Flames have been putting up a fight this year. Fresh off another lengthy skid, they seem to have corrected things with two wins in a row. The offense clicks at home, and the Flames have found a goalie to replace Kipper. They’re not the team we picked on the last couple seasons, and 9-6-2 record at home is worth noting – as is their 19-15-3 record overall. This is a decent team.

That said, the LA Kings, on paper, are the much better team. They’re on the road here, but I trust their system and their goaltending to ward off an inferior roster. The Kings are 18-11-7 this year, which means in terms of money line betting the Flames have actually had the better record on the season. That said, Quick is better than Hiller, the top four defensemen of the Kings should be able to keep the Flames in check, and the depth of LA should shine through here if they play a complete game.

For me, this is a value bet. Kings against Flames, I think the Kings will win more often than not, home or road. The -125 line is juicy, and I think we can count on a close game where the better team, on the road, prevails. Low confidence with conflict in the algorithm here, but value oozing everywhere.
