NHL Picks: LA Kings at Calgary Flames
For how important this game is to the LA Kings, I’m amazed at how much value there is in the line. The Kings did just fall to the Canucks in overtime and then again to the Edmonton Oilers, and I guess the Calgary Flames have won four of five. Sure, momentum is not on their side – but this is a team of proven winners that can overcome fatigue and move into a tie with the Flames for last place with one to play. Because the Flames play the Jets to close out the season, quite a few scenarios have the Kings very much alive.
I’m not sure how the Kings lost to the Oilers in such a big game. I’m sure fatigue and being on the road might have had something to do with it, but now they face an elimination game.
The LA Kings have the better goalie, the better team, and need this one. Calgary can clinch with a victory, but they’ll have another shot the next time out. This is going to be an interesting game, and I’m siding with the winning pedigree of the LA Kings and their slightly more desperate circumstances to find a way to scrape together a tough road win and keep the season alive.
The computer likes the Flames here, so I’ll temper my wager accordingly.
