Premier League matchday 3 kicks off this weekend with a round of 10 matches spread across three days.
The season is now starting to see fixtures pile up and congestion form due to cup competitions. A myriad of teams are in action in midweek in the Carabao Cup and/or Europa League qualifying third round. These games could have an impact on the weekend’s results.
Last weekend, I got two of my three picks correct as Liverpool defeated Chelsea and Leicester City beat Burnley. Can we make this weekend three picks out of three successful?

After two matchdays, here is a look at Bet365’s odds on the team to win the Premier League in 2020-21. Here are the top five heading into Premier League matchday 3.

As you can see, two of those teams lost on matchday 2 (Chelsea and Manchester United). Will they or any other teams in the top five odds to win the league drop points on Premier League matchday 3?
Manchester City vs. Leicester City
One of the two big games of Premier League matchday 3 will take place on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium. Manchester City are coming off of a thorough 3-1 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night. They can take a major step toward winning the title with an early-season victory against Leicester City.
Leicester City flirted with winning the Premier League in the first half of last season. By Christmas, however, Manchester City and Liverpool ended any hopes they had of lifting the time.
Brendan Rodgers’ team have started well winning back to back games. But that was Leicester City’s problem last term. They could beat the mediocre teams but struggled against the league’s elite. This is a major test for Leicester City.
Manchester City have won the last three games against Leicester City. Two of those wins came at home in the Premier League. Although Leicester City were excellent last weekend with a 4-2 win against Burnley, they are taking a step up against one of the best attacks in the world.
Kevin De Bruyne will be difficult for Leicester City to slow down. he scored from the penalty spot last weekend versus Wolves. De Bruyne could get o the scoresheet once more in a close game. Manchester City have won by a 1-0 scoreline in two of their last three games against Leicester City. Expect another narrow Cityzens win.
Result: Manchester City to win to nil
Liverpool vs. Arsenal
Reigning champions Liverpool host FA Cup winners Arsenal. These two teams already played this season in the Community Shield. The game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes with Arsenal winning on penalties.
Liverpool are unbeaten this season having defeated Leeds United 4-3 and Chelsea 2-0. Arsenal are also unbeaten with wins against Fulham 3-0 and West Ham 2-1.
The Gunners have not played a league team as strong as Liverpool yet. The Reds dominated Chelsea last weekend and that should help them prepare for the game. The team that loses this game won’t be out of the title race. However, Manchester City could be the big winners, if they can win and either Liverpool or Arsenal drop points.
If Arsenal’s attack get at Liverpool’s defence, don’t be surprised to see them win. Otherwise, I love Liverpool’s squad and think they will get the result in the end.
It is worth noting both Arsenal and Liverpool have a Carabao Cup game in the lead up to the match. Arsenal will have a difficult cup game against Leicester City on Wednesday. Liverpool play lower-league club Lincoln City on Thursday. Jurgen Klopp may not play any of the XI that start against Arsenal against Lincoln City. Remember, this game is to be played on Monday night.
