NHL Stanley Cup Finals Picks Game Three: LA Kings at New York Rangers
Desperation is a powerful thing in the postseason. The New York Rangers have their backs to the wall and they return home with the series essentially on the line right here. They’ve had big leads in both games and there’s been three overtime periods so far, all on the road. The Rangers can play with the Kings and now they have home ice and matchup edges thanks to the last change.
But the Kings are surging and look good.
This is a dangerous game for me and I think the value is on the Rangers, but not enough to justify a significant wager for me. We know they can handle LA, but we also see King Nothing Henrik Lundqvist starting to falter. Can he snap out of it in time to save the series?
The Kings have to be tired. They’ve played three consecutive overtime games, traveled across the country to New York, and saw all three series go seven games so far.
I think the Rangers win tonight. They’re very desperate, they’re getting a good line, they’ve been close in every game so far, and they’re playing a team that is running out of steam. The Rangers will have the legs tonight. They need a win. The Kings don’t really have a way to match that desperation. If this is going to be a series, as the first two games indicated it might be, then New York will win tonight because they have to.
Unless Henrik chokes again, New York is the play.
