NHL Picks: New York Islanders at Columbus Blue Jackets

Screen Shot 2015-12-12 at 8.02.19 AMI actually really like the Columbus Blue Jackets. It makes me happy that they have a goaltender that makes the Flyers look silly with every successful season he puts together. That said, this year is not going well for the Jackets. A coaching change may have given them a temporary boost, but they are in the midst of another slide.

The New York Islanders, on the other hand, are playing some really great hockey at the moment. They’ve got some serious top-line talent and one of the hottest goalies in hockey right now. The Islanders are looking for another 100-point season, and I think they’ll get it. This is a playoff team that knows how to win the games they’re supposed to win.

With momentum on their side, the Islanders are on the road here with a high-value line as slight favorites against a weak team. While the Blue Jackets system makes me a little nervous on home ice, I think the better team prevails in this one and I have a low-confidence system play on the New York Islanders.

The computer agrees with minor conflict in the algorithm and a weak signal. This one is a 50/50 coin flip, but the Islanders are a 3.5 star pick to win this one. I like their chances, so I’m on it here. The Score Predictor says 3-1 with 60% confidence. I’ll agree.

Islanders 3 – Blue Jackets 1
