NHL Picks March 27: Colorado versus Minnesota Headline Action

The NHL is reaching the end of the regular season and teams want to be playing their best heading into the playoffs. There are several interesting games for March 27 with the Minnesota Wild hosting the Colorado Avalanche leading the way.

Tampa Bay Lightning versus New York Islanders

Tampa Bay enters 5th in the Eastern Conference and the Islanders are in the middle of the pack. The Lightning holds a +19 to +10 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator, while the Islanders are “average up” versus “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Score Predictor likes the Islanders by a 4-2 margin with 70 percent confidence. Note that the teams have been trending in an equal number of games “over” and “under” the line, making this a bet to avoid. The teams are showing stability according to the Team  Volatility Oscillator. Go with the Islanders at home in a tight game.

Colorado Avalanche versus Minnesota Wild

Colorado takes their top record in the NHL to Minnesota to face the 4th seed in the Western Conference. Both teams are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and the Avalanche has a +31 to +23 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Score Predictor has Minnesota by a 3-2 margin with 69 percent confidence. The teams have been trending slightly more “under” the line than “over” over the last 12 games combined. Note that the Avalanche is extremely stable at +28. Check the favorite/underdog status prior to betting. Go with Colorado, but only if they are the road favorite, but avoid the “over/under” bet.

Florida Panthers versus Toronto Maple Leafs

Florida enters play first in the Eastern Conference and Toronto is 6th. The Panthers are “average up” versus “average down” and Toronto has a slim edge of +28 to +27 on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Score Predictor has Toronto by a 3-2 score with 61 percent confidence. The teams have been involved in games “over” the line in a combined eight of their last 12 games.  Florida has shown more stability, at +21 to +11 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like Toronto at home in a one-goal game going “over” the line.

Buffalo Sabres versus New York Rangers

Both teams are in the bottom half of the Eastern Conference. The Sabres have been playing well lately, coming in “burning hot” and +10 on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Rangers are “average” and +30, respectively. Take note that the teams have been trending in games “over” the line in a combined seven of the last 12 games. The Score Predictor has the Rangers by a 4-2 score but with only 20 percent confidence.  The teams have been consistently performing with respect to their favorite/underdog status. Go with the Rangers at home by a couple of goals in a game “over” the line.
