As we reach the halfway point of the NFL season, there appears to be a new team to beat in the NFL as the Saints took down the Rams last week. Will they continue their hot play against the Bengals? Can New England remain on top in the AFC? We’ll examine those teams and several other games for week ten in the NFL.
New Orleans Saints versus Cincinnati Bengals
The Saints enter this week coming off a 45-35 win against the previously undefeated Rams. They are 4.5 point favorites over the Bengals, who also won last week and are 5-3 for the season. New Orleans has a +30 to +20 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot” versus “average” status on the Team Strength Oscillator. Cincinnati is one of the most unstable teams according to the Team Volatility Oscillator and the Saints currently have a 66 percent chance of winning, according to our VIP Picks section. Look for New Orleans to continue to thrive and win and cover the spread.
New England Patriots versus Tennessee Titans
After their customary slow start, the Patriots are winners of their last seven. They are a 6.5 point favorite over the Titans, who are coming off a road win in Dallas. The Patriots took down the Titans in the playoffs last season and have a +28 to +14 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. Trending increasingly upward, New England is “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. As the fourth most stable team in the league, New England is consistent winners when favorites. Tennessee can put up a good fight in this one for a while, but the Patriots will take over and likely win by a touchdown or more.
Washington Redskins versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Redskins still hold a slim lead in the NFC East, but fell to the Falcons last week, 38-14. Tampa Bay also dropped a road game against the red hot Panthers to fall to 3-5. Tampa Bay enters a 2.5 point home favorite but our VIP Picks section gives the Redskins a 52 percent chance of winning. Washington has a decided +26 to +11 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and Tampa’s struggles of five losses in their last six gives them a “dead” status on the Team Strength Oscillator. Tampa should get a win soon, and perhaps this one at home, but it’s really a toss up.
Los Angeles Chargers versus Oakland Raiders
Oakland has been a disaster all season, coming in at 1-7 and outscored by 111 points. The Chargers are winners of their last five and are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Chargers won by 16 in the previous meeting this season on October 7 and are a 9.5 point favorite on the road. Oakland is the third most stable team in the league, meaning they lose regularly as underdogs and win as favorites, which hasn’t been the case. The Chargers will win this one easily, likely by a few touchdowns.
Miami Dolphins versus Green Bay Packers
The Packers are in a tough spot after falling to the Patriots last week. At 3-4-1 they are behind both the Bears and Vikings in the NFC Central. Miami comes in two games back in the AFC East. They hold a +15 to +14 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator, while both teams are in the “ice cold” range on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Packers are a 9 point favorite and have an 81 percent chance of winning, according to our VIP Picks section. Tied for first in team stability, the Dolphins are likely to lose when underdogs. All this points towards a big win for the Packers to get back into the divisional race.
Detroit Lions versus Chicago Bears
In a classic NFC North battle, the first place Bears host the last place Lions. Teams are heading in opposite directions, as Chicago has won two straight and the Lions lost two straight. Detroit was victorious both meetings between these teams last season, but the Bears are 6.5 point favorites and have a 64 percent chance of winning. Chicago is also tied for the fifth most stable team in the league according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. It’s doubtful the Lions can end their losing streak this week. Go for the Bears to continue their winning ways, but the Lions could cover.
