The NFL Playoffs are upon us.
The Dallas Cowboys again lost to a division rial on the road to miss the playoffs in Week 17. This year, Tony Romo threw an interception to the flat late in the game to seal Dallas’ fate. With the Washington Redskins locking up the final playoff spot, we know the first round matchups. Here is a quick look at our early thoughts on the games.
Cincinnati Bengals at Houston Texans
The Texans slept through the final four weeks of the season, forfeiting their bye week opportunity. They’ll host an upstart Cincy team that surged through the second half to make the playoffs and finish with ten wins on the year. The Texans look like they should be able to control the game, but it could be a close game. The spread opened at Texans -4, but I’m more comfortable buying this down to 3.

Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens, like the Texans, finished the year in a bit of a slump. Save for a blowout victory against the Giants, the Ravens stumbled through their final few games. They have all the makings of a contender – good defense, great running back, decent weapons on offense, and a good coach – but they’ve yet to put it together. The Colts are playing inspired football, but I think the Ravens are the better team here. Baltimore -6 looks like the play, expecting playoff jitters to finally get the best of Andrew Luck and company.

Seattle Seahawks at Washington Redskins
The Seahawks struggle on the road, but they finished the season on a phenomenal tear. They have the rushing defense to control an injured RGIII and Alfred Morris, but I’m not sure they can do it on the road. Washington getting 3 points at home seems reasonable for a low confidence play.
Redskins 20 – Seahawks 21
Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers
It’s cute that the Vikings were able to beat Green Bay and sneak into the playoffs, but can they do it again on the road? I think Green Bay dominates this one, -7 looks good early.
Packers 35 – Vikings 21
