NFL Picks Wild Card Round: Giants at Vikings Headline Action

The NFL regular season is complete and the playoffs are upon us. There are three games set for Sunday, January 15 with the Vikings hosting the Giants the featured game.

New York Giants versus Minnesota Vikings

The Giants enter as the 6th seed in the NFC with a record of 9-7-1, while the Vikings are the 3rd seed with a record of 13-4. Minnesota is “average up” versus “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +25 to +20 on the Power Ranks Indicator. The Vikings are home favorites with odds of 1.62 to 2.276 with a line of -3.5 and an over/under of 48.5.  As for the over/under, the teams have been trending in games “over” the line in 10 of the last 12 combined. The Score Predictor likes Minnesota by a 37-18 score with 85 percent confidence. Minnesota has been extremely consistent with regard to their favorite/underdog status, as the +13 on the Team Volatility Oscillator indicates. Go with the Vikings at home to win and cover in a game “over” the line.

Miami Dolphins versus Buffalo Bills

Buffalo comes in as the 2nd seed in the AFC with a record of 13-3 while Miami is the 7th seed with a 9-8 mark. The Bills are riding an emotional high and are 12.5-point favorites with odds of 1.12 to 6.1 with an “over/under” of 43.5. The Bills have won their last seven and are “burning hot” and the Dolphins are “dead” up, having gone 1-5 over their last six. Buffalo has a huge +31 to +11 advantage on the Power Ranks Indicator. The Score Predictor sees Buffalo is a 41-16 blowout with a confidence of 88 percent. The teams have been involved in games “over” the line in only half of the last 12 games combined. The teams split the meeting during the regular season with both games decided by three points or less. With Tua Tagovailoa out, there is little chance for the Dolphins. The Bills will win and cover, but pass on the “over/under” bet.

Baltimore Ravens versus Cincinnati Bengals

Baltimore comes in as the 6th seed in the AFC with a record of 10-7; Cincinnati is the 3rd seed with a record of 12-4. The Bengals have won their last eight and are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator versus “average down” for the Ravens. Cincinnati has a +28 to +18 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator. The odds are in favor of the Bengals at 1.23 to 4.04 with a line of -7.5 and an over/under of 40.5. The Score Predictor is in line with a Bengals blowout, 39-19 with 72 percent confidence. Both teams are showing moderately good stability according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. The teams split the regular season meetings in relatively low-scoring games. I expect another tough game between two divisional foes. Go with the Bengals to win but don’t be surprised if the Ravens cover and pass on the “over/under” bet.
