NFL Picks: NFC and AFC Championship Games

The NFL Playoffs are in full swing and the defending Super Bowl champions are still in the running. However, there is a major question mark as to the status of their top player heading into their matchup against the Buffalo Bills. In the NFC, the ageless wonder Tom Brady leads the Tampa Bay Buccaneers into Lambeau Field to face Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.

Buffalo Bills versus Kansas City Chiefs

The Buffalo Bills are coming off a 17-3 win over the Baltimore Ravens last week and head into Kansas City to face the Chiefs, who held off the Cleveland Browns, 22-17. The Chiefs are 1.75 to 2.10 favorites with a line of 2.5 and an over/under of 53.5 However, with the status of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in question due to concussion protocol, the line and the over/under must be monitored throughout the week. Both teams are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and the Bills have a +31 to +29 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator.  Both teams have been very consistent performing according to their favorite/underdog status as indicated by the Team Volatility Oscillator.  The Totals Predictor shows the trend for both teams going “over”, so that is a good play in this one. The Chiefs won the regular-season meeting between the teams by the score of 26-17. This game all comes down to the status of Mahomes. If he plays, take the Chiefs to win and cover. If not, the Bills will cover and could win outright.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers versus Green Bay Packers

The Buccaneers are coming off a 30-20 win over the New Orleans Saints, while the Packers took down the Rams by the score of 32-18. Tom Brady, who will be making his 14th appearance in a conference title game, leads the Buccaneers to whipped the Packers in their regular-season meeting, 38-10. The Packers are a 1.51 to 2.590 favorite with a line of 3.5 and an over/under of 50.5.  Both teams enter having won their last six games and are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator.  Green Bay has a slight +30 to +27 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. As can be expected at this stage of the playoffs, both teams are highly stable according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. Expect a higher scoring game, as has been the trend with both teams. Therefore, a lucrative bet will be the “over”.  I don’t expect the same result as the first meeting between the teams. It’s hard to bet against Brady, but the Packers at home have a slight edge. Go with the Packers to win by a field goal, therefore the Buccaneers cover.
