NBA Picks March 13: Clippers host Nets in game of the day

With less than a quarter of the NBA regular season remaining, teams are still battling for final playoff spots and jockeying for home-court advantage. With the second seed in the West, the Clippers host the Nets in the top game for Friday, March 13.

Brooklyn Nets versus Los Angeles Clippers

Brooklyn heads into play 8th in the Eastern Conference, while the Clippers are 2nd in the Western Conference, behind only the Lakers. Both teams have been playing well lately with Brooklyn at “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and Los Angeles at “burning hot down”. The Clippers have a +27 to +19 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and are the more stable team at +25 to +13 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. The Clippers have been a part of games trending well under the “over/under” line, so that will be a safe bet in this one. In this first meeting of the season between the teams, expect Los Angeles to prevail on their home court.

Washington Wizards versus Boston Celtics

The Wizards are on the outside of the playoff picture looking in at 9th in the Eastern Conference. Boston is a very solid 3rd in the conference and has taken one of the two meetings between the teams this season.  Neither team has been trending well lately, coming in at “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Boston has a +22 to +5 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. If considering the “over/under”, the over looks like a solid bet. Take note that both teams have been consistently performing according to their favorite/underdog status, according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. This game sets up well for Boston, who should win comfortably.

Minnesota Timberwolves versus Oklahoma City Thunder

Both teams appear to be playing out the string in this Western Conference game. Minnesota is next to last in the conference and Oklahoma City is fifth from the bottom. The Timberwolves are “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +2 on the Power Ranking Indicator, while the Thunder is “burning hot” and +21, respectively. Expect a high scoring game with both teams trending “over”. Both teams have shown stability at +18 and +11 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. Oklahoma City has dominated Minnesota this season, winning all three games. That trend will continue in this one.

Denver Nuggets versus San Antonio Spurs

Denver looks to secure home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs and the Spurs have little to play for, sitting 12th in the Western Conference. Denver won the first game between the teams this season and has a +20 to +11 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. Both teams have been mediocre lately, sitting “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Nuggets have been a bit more consistent in performing according to their favorite/underdog status. They won the first meeting between the two teams this season. Expect a high scoring game, betting the “over” with the Nuggets coming out on top once again.

New Orleans Pelicans versus Utah Jazz

The Pelicans look to make a push for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference as they face the 4th seeded Utah Jazz. The teams have split the last four meetings and the Jazz enter with a +20 to +11 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. New Orleans has played a bit better lately, as their “burning hot” to “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator Indicates. With the teams trending on opposite sides of the “over/under” line, probably best to avoid that bet in this one.  The teams have both been very consistent in their performance according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. I expect the Jazz to hold down home court in a relatively tight game.
