NBA Picks December 6: Clippers versus Bucks headline play

The 2019 holiday season is upon us and NBA fans are in for some treats this weekend.  With the season at the quarter point, teams are beginning to position themselves for a push towards the playoffs come the new year. The Clippers and Bucks is the main attraction for Friday, December 6.

Los Angeles Clippers versus Milwaukee Bucks

The Clippers enter action with a 16-6 record and 13-1 at home, although a mediocre 3-5 road mark. The Bucks have the top record in the Eastern Conference at 18-3 and 9-1 at home. Milwaukee won the first meeting this season between the teams by a 129-124 score. Both teams are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and the Bucks have a +29 to +22 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. Best to avoid playing the over/under on this one as the teams are trending on opposite sides of the line according to the Totals Predictor.  Both teams are performing consistently with their favorite/underdog status. Milwaukee will be home favorites and should walk away with the win.

Indiana Pacers versus Detroit Pistons

Indiana heads into Detroit with a 13-7 record and 5-2 on the road. They face a Detroit team that is a solid 6-4 at home, but just 8-13 overall. The Pacers took the first game between the teams this season at home by six points. They have a +19 to +10 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and both are  “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The teams have both been involved in lower scoring contests, so betting the under is a wise play. Detroit is +6 on the Team Volatility Oscillator compared to +5 for the Pacers, so both teams have been relatively stable. I see Indiana edging the Pistons, perhaps in overtime to even their road record for the season.

Denver Nuggets versus Boston Celtics

Winners of the first meeting between the teams this season by a 96-92 score, the Nuggets head into Boston with a 13-5 record and 5-2 on the road.  The Celtics have been tough at home, winning all seven and are 14-5 overall. Denver holds a +27 to +20 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “aveage” versus “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator.  The teams are both adept at putting points on the board, to playing the over is a solid bet. Boston is +11 on the Team Volatility Oscillator and the Nuggets are +7, indicating consistency in performing according to their favorite/underdog status. In a slight upset, look for the Nuggets to hand the Celtics their first home loss of the season.

Sacramento Kings versus San Antonio Spurs

Both teams enter this game struggling. The Kings are 3-7 on the road and 8-11 overall, while the Spurs are 6-6 at home and 8-14 for the season. This is the first meeting between the teams this year and the Kings have a +17 to +8 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Kings  are “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Neither team has been scoring at a high pace, to playing the under is a smart bet in this one. The Spurs have been the more stable team, which makes them a likely home favorite a good bet. Look for the Spurs to take care of home court and win this one by five points or less.

Los Angeles Lakers versus Portland Trailblazers

The Lakers have the top record in the Western Conference at 18-3 and are 9-1 on the road. Portland has played a bit better lately as their “burning hot” status indicates, but are still just 8-13 on the season and 6-9 at home. Los Angeles is “burning hot down” and has a +28 to +13 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. In what could be a defensive battle, the Totals Predictor indicates the betting the under is a prudent choice. The Lakers are the more stable team at +12 versus +4. In this first meeting of the season, expect the Lakers to continue to roll, taking down Portland without too much difficulty.
