MLB Picks June 19: Yankees versus Blue Jays battle in AL East

The Major League Baseball season is more than a third of the way in the books and the races continue to heat up. There is a full slate of action scheduled for June 19 with AL East rivals Yankees and Blue Jays headlining the action.

New York Yankees versus Toronto Blue Jays

The Yankees enter play “burning hot” and +28 on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Blue Jays are +average up and +7, respectively. The teams have been trending in games primarily “over” the line, according to the Totals Predictor. Gerrit Cole is scheduled to pitch for the Yankees. He is 6-1 with a 3.33 ERA and a very solid +$135 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. The Score Predictor likes the Yankees by a 6-3 score with 81 percent confidence. New York is also extremely stable, coming in at +24 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Yankees, but avoid the “over/under” bet.

Philadelphia Phillies versus Washington Nationals

The Phillies meet the Nationals in an NL East battle. Philadelphia is “average up” and +13 on the Power Ranking Indicator and Washington is “ice cold down” and +4, respectively. Zach Eflin is scheduled to pitch for the Phillies versus Jackson Tetreault for Washington. Eflin is 2-4 with a 3.98 ERA and -72 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator, while Tetreault is 0-1 with a 15.75 ERA and -100. The Nationals have been trending in games “over” the line and the Score Predictor has the Phillies by a 10-0 score with 49 percent confidence. Note that the Phillies have been very inconsistently performing with regard to their favorite/underdog status. I still like the Phillies in a game “over” the line.

St. Louis Cardinals versus Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox enters “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +23 on the Power Ranking Indicator. St. Louis is “average” and +25 on the Power Ranking Indicator. Andre Pallante is set to pitch for the Cardinals versus Nick Pivetta for the Red Sox. Pallante is 4-0 with a 1.46 ERA and +69 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator versus 6-5 with a 3.50 ERA and -172 for Pivetta.  The Score Predictor has the Red Sox by a 10-2 score with 60 percent confidence. The teams have combined to go “over” the line in seven of their last 12 games. I like the Red Sox at home in a game “over” the line.

Milwaukee Brewers versus Cincinnati Reds

In the NL Central battle, the Reds host the Brewers.  Cincinnati comes in “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +19 on the Power Ranking Indicator, while the Brewers are “ice cold up” and 0. The Score Predictor likes the Reds with an 8-5 score with 44 percent confidence. Both teams are relatively stable according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Brewers on the road in a game going “under” the line.

Texas Rangers versus Detroit Tigers

Both teams are struggling at the moment. Texas is “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator versus “dead” for Detroit. The Rangers have a +16 to +8 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. Dave Dunning is set to pitch for the Tigers versus Drew Hutchison for the Tigers. Dunning is 1-4 with a 4.04 ERA and Hutchison is 0-4 with a 4.58 ERA. The Score Predictor liked the Rangers by a score of 9-0 with 65 percent confidence. Note that the Tigers have been much more stable at +17 to -1 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. Texas has been involved in games primarily “over” the line lately. Look for another high-scoring game with the Tigers coming out on top.

Cleveland Guardians versus Los Angeles Dodgers

In Los Angeles, the Dodgers and Guardians both enter “burning hot”. Cleveland has a +26 to +15 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. Cleveland has been trending in games “over” the line, while Los Angeles has been trending in games “under” the line. The Score Predictor has the Dodgers by a 4-2 score with 56 percent confidence. Both teams have been consistently performing with regard to their favorite/underdog status. I like the Dodgers at home in a game “under” the line.
