MLB World Series: Lessons learned from game 2

The Major League Baseball World Series is all to play for after Houston’s dramatic 11 inning win over the Dodgers in game 2. The World Series’ first game was a pitching duel that saw the Dodgers win 3-1. Clayton Kershaw threw well, picking up the win.

Game 2 saw the bats come alive. The Astros scored in each of the last four innings as the game went to 11. Game 3 is on the horizon (Friday night), and the World Series is evenly matched as the teams shift to Houston.

We went 2-1 ATS in Week 7 which improves our YTD to 15-6. Let’s see if we can keep it going with a few potential plays for Week 8. The main strategy I want to implement is fading the public. Books are always looking to exploit public perception so hopefully we can find a few winners by fading the public in a few heavily public-bet games. Obviously, this is written on Wednesday (10/25) so always keep an eye on the changing lines and percentages.

The Avalanche come into play winning the only prior meeting between the teams by the score of 4-2 on September 28. They are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator at +6.89, while the Golden Knights are -10.12 and “average down” status. The Power Ranking Indicator shows the Golden Knights with a +24 to +18 advantage. Vegas is 6-1 through Tuesday’s games, while the Avalanche are 5-4. Look for Vegas to hold home ice and win this one in a close battle.

Oakland Raiders versus Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills enter the game 3-0 at home and 4-2 overall this season. Oakland comes into play coming off a win and are 3-4 on the season. The Raiders won the meeting between the two teams last December as a home favorite. A 2.5 point home favorite, the Bills are at -3.91 and average on the Team Strength Oscillator, while the Raiders are slightly higher at -3.09. The teams are even in terms of the Power Ranking Indicator. Given the Bills record at home and favorite status, I lean towards the Bills in a  ... 

NBA: What did we learn in week 1?

The first week of the NBA season is finished, and some interesting notes have already been made. Of course, the Boston Celtics have lost Gordon Hayward to a broken tibia. Washington is already 3-0 and the only perfect team in the Eastern Conference. The Grizzlies and Spurs, both are 3-0, and both are playing better than expected.
