White Sox, Nationals, Red Sox, Blue Jays: Sunday July 24 MLB Picks
As we close out another weekend of baseball, here are Z-code’s top picks for Sunday’s games.
Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox
Chris Sale, Chicago’s ace pitcher was originally supposed to start this game. However, in an argument with the front office over throwback jerseys, Sale shredded his uniform and was sent home. Now we have Jose Quintana starting instead. Quintana isn’t an ace, but he’s certainly close and he’s been throwing like one recently. Furthermore he’s facing Anibal Sanchez who’s 0-3 and ERA of 9.42 in his last three starts. I’d rather have Sale on the mound, but Quintana will do.
White Sox 1.35 to win 1
San Diego Padres at Washington Nationals
Washington has the pitching edge in Giolito vs. Friedrich. Furthermore the Nats have the best bullpen in baseball. The series is currently split and the Nats need to pull of a win to build some momentum leading into a tough 6 games against cleveland and San Francisco.

Minnesota Twins at Boston Red Sox
Until two days ago the Red Sox were playing some of the best baseball in the league. Now they’re a game away from being swept by the twins at home. Boston will be fighting tooth and nail to keep that from happening. Porcello is a solid starter who’s playing well (3-0 with 1.86 ERA in his last 3). This is a must win for Boston.

Seattle Mariners at Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays, like the Red Sox, are a good team facing being swept by a bad one in their own stadium. The Jays have a huge pitching edge in Happ vs. Miley and will need to pull of a win here. Thus far the Mariners have out-hit the Jays by a mile, but I don’t expect them the be able to keep up the pace they set in the first two games. This will be a big bounce back game for the Jays.
