Week One NFL Picks: New Orleans Saints at Arizona Cardinals
This is obviously a trap game. The New Orleans Saints got worse this off-season losing most of their key offensive weapons (and a few on defense), while the Arizona Cardinals were one of the best teams in the league last year and they’re finally healthy. Public money is pouring in on the Cardinals, yet the line has moved in favor of the Cardinals down to -2. Las Vegas must know something we don’t, because even when the Saints were good they struggled on the road. Still, I will bite.
Recognizing that this is a strange one movement and that we are clearly betting into a trap this week, I still have the Arizona Cardinals as my biggest play. The Cardinals were undefeated last year before Carson Palmer got hurt, and with their quarterback back under center, I think they will be one of the best teams in the league this year. The New Orleans Saints will struggle to break .500.
I understand that the Arizona Cardinals defense got a little bit weaker, but I do not expect the New Orleans Saints to move the ball. They still have weapons, but not like they did last year. On the road, I think the New Orleans Saints will struggle offensively. Even if the Saints move the ball, I do not expect this defense to stop anyone this year. The Cardinals have a very balanced attack, with a strong running game and weapons through the air. I just don’t see the New Orleans Saints slowing them down.
There is a lot of value in the line. I am on the Cardinals -2 and the Cardinals -140.
