MLB Picks: Colorado Rockies vs LA Dodgers I pride myself on taking emotion out of betting, but I’d be lying to you if I told you I wasn’t at least a little bit bothered by the rain delay inspired comeback that the Colorado Rockies pulled on the LA Dodgers last night. The game was won, our starting pitcher was cruising along, and then after a very long rain delay it all came crashing down as an elite team fell apart and ended one of the most epic losing streaks in baseball history (two short of a Colorado Rockies franchise record).

After postponing our first round of our MLB Picks Contest due to low participation and a pitching change, we’d like to start this up again with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs on Saturday. The Cubs have been inconsistent, but so have the Pirates. I think the Pirates have a slight pitching edge, but the Cubs have their ace going and home field. This should be a good one!

MLB Picks: Philadelphia Phillies at St. Louis Cardinals, ABC Progression The St. Louis Cardinals were dealt a tough blow when Adam Wainwright went down for the year, and I think it had something to do with their lackluster performance in Game One of this four-game series. With strong pitching advantages and the lowly Philadelphia Phillies coming to St. Louis, I see a huge advantage warranting a progression.

MLB Picks: Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins I don’t usually challenge the computer on a flat bat situation, but we’re going to go forward with this play despite the minimal signal from the computer and the apparent underdog value in the line.
First, I believe in David Price. I think a power pitcher in this situation is going to have a field day. The Minnesota Twins don’t hit and they certainly don’t hit shutdown pitching. The Detroit Tigers have won a couple in a row and are starting to surge. I see the Twins playing better baseball, but this is the class of the AL Central division and I think even the home field edge will not be enough to overcome David Price and the mighty Detroit Tigers.
