Super Bowl Predictions: Why Seattle Seahawks Will Defeat the New England Patriots

NFL Super Bowl Predictions: Why the Seattle Seahawks Will Beat the New England Patriots

Last year broke a long run of Super Bow victories that went back to the Colts-Bears game my senior year of high school. This year I’ll be jumping on the very bandwagon that stole my glory last season. Perhaps my love of Peyton Manning blinded me last season, but surely betting into all the hatred I have for the Seattle Seahawks will help eliminate any such bias this season.

We announced our prediction earlier in the week, but I wanted to take another look at the game now that most of the public money has come in. The line shifted slightly against the Seahawks, but we got in when the money line was -105. Our public money indicators show a near 50/50 split on the money line, but nearly half the tickets for this game have come in on the spread for New England.

I like betting against the public. Everyone bets the Super Bowl and Las Vegas has a lot at stake here. The public generally does not know what they’re doing. I think this is another sign that the Seattle Seahawks have the edge.

I don’t think the Patriots will have success against Seattle Seahawks on offense. They won’t run the ball and don’t have the receivers to open up this secondary. While Gronk is great, I think you’ll see him taken out of this game by the speed and size of these linebackers and safeties.

On the other side of the ball, I think the physicality of the Seahawks will make a big difference. The game will be controlled at the line of scrimmage and the run game will dictate the pace of this one. I like these matchups.

So, we’ll stick with our prediction from earlier in the week. Adding public money tracking to this one, I feel even better. I’m on the Seahawks to win the Super Bowl, bouncing back from my loss last year by picking the very team that beat me.
