Premier League matchday 33

Liverpool vs. Aston Villa

Liverpool were crowned Premier League champions last weekend but unfortunately followed up the title win by losing 4-0 to Manchester City away from home in midweek. The Reds looked like they hadn’t stopped celebrating and were well off the pace against the Cityzens.

Jurgen Klopp will be unhappy with his team and could rotate the side for Aston Villa’s visit. The Villains are fighting relegation and desperately need a win. It won’t be easy, especially having lost to Liverpool in the league earlier this season.

That game saw Aston Villa take a first-half lead and nearly win versus Liverpool. However, the Reds scored two goals in the final three minutes to snatch a dramatic win. That victory was one of the games that helped propel Liverpool to the title.

Aston Villa are winless in six straight league games and should struggle against Liverpool. The Reds will make life difficult for Aston Villa and be much better than they were against Manchester City in midweek.

Winner: Liverpool

Southampton vs. Manchester City

Manchester City are coming off of their thrashing of Liverpool, but continue to show weaknesses in the team. Away games have been an issue for Pep Guardiola’s team as six games away from home have ended in defeat this season.

Can Southampton claim a league win over the Cityzens? Yes, Southampton have improved throughout the season and nearly pulled off a win away to Manchester City earlier this season. The Cityzens needed two goals in the final 20 minutes to claim the win.

Southampton do not play well at home. Just four wins from 16 home games have been claimed while they have lost 16 times at St. Mary’s Stadium. They have the worst home points total in the league. Do not expect Southampton to win this game as Manchester City run rampant on them on the south coast.

Winner: Manchester City

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Everton

Monday night sees a massive fixture between two midtable teams, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton. Spurs are coming off of an embarrassing 3-1 loss away to Sheffield United while Everton won in midweek at home to third-placed Leicester City.

This should be a close game with a score draw a possibility. Everton have not won away to Tottenham Hotspur since 2008. That is a lifetime ago in the world of football. Their trend of not winning shouldn’t change as Spurs are a good home team.

If you fancy a bet on a player to score anytime on Monday night, then Spurs’ in-form striker Harry Kane is your man. Kane has bagged a goal in each of his last two games.

Result: Tottenham Hotspur win or draw.
