As we enter December, the end of 2018 is quickly approaching. We take a look at four games for November 7. Can the Anaheim Ducks stay hot in their pursuit of Calgary in the Pacific Division? Note that all information is for games played through December 3.
San Jose Sharks versus Dallas Stars
San Jose comes in third in the Pacific, while Dallas is in the middle of the pack in the Central. However, Dallas has won their last three and are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and hold a +14 to +9 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Stars have dominated the play between the two teams lately, winning the last five meetings. They are also the more stable of the teams at +3 to 0 and being a home favorite, is more indication to lean their way. I see Dallas extending their streak to six over San Jose to move closer to the top in their division.
St. Louis Blues versus Winnipeg Jets
This has been a clearly one-sided match up late, with the Jets winners of five of the last six meetings. St. Louis enters in last in the Central, while the Jets have won three straight and pushing towards the top in the division. Winnipeg holds a +21 to +4 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot” versus “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Among the most stable teams in the league, the Jets are +10 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. Barring a major upset, the Jets will win this one quite easily.
Minnesota Wild versus Edmonton Oilers
Minnesota looks to end a three-game skid and enter the game “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. They still have a slight +18 to +16 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. Minnesota has a +4 scoring differential as compared to -12 for Edmonton. Despite the downward trend, the Wild have done well in head-to-head match ups, winning four of the last six. However, the Oilers are the more stable of the two teams, meaning they are more consistent winning as favorites and losing as underdogs. Edmonton will be home favorites and should win this one, but likely to be a close game.
Carolina Hurricanes versus Anaheim Ducks
Carolina has lost their last two and are 5-3-2 over the last ten. They come in “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +14 on the Power Ranking Indicator. On the flip side, Anaheim has won their last four, are “burning hot” and on the tails of the Calgary Flames in the Pacific Division. They are +25 on the Power Ranking Indicator and have won the last five meetings between the teams. Both teams are relatively stable at +1 on the Team Volatility Oscillator, but betting strictly on their favorite/underdog status is not the best option. However, all the trends clearly favor Anaheim in this one, so look for them to continue their dominance over the Hurricanes and extend their current winning streak to five.
