NHL Playoffs Picks: Tampa Bay Lightning at New York Rangers
Is there a more inconsistent team in the NHL Playoffs than the Tampa Bay Lightning? One night they blow you away, the next they’re not even close to competitive with the same team. It’s really been interesting to watch and difficult to bet. The Bolts have looked great for stretches here, but the New York Rangers are a great team and Tampa will need to sort things out quickly now.
I still believe that Ben Bishop is able to go toe to toe with Henrik Lundqvist. I look to the Lightning as the better team offensively, even though the Rangers are quick and dangerous, too. I think the Rangers have a much better defensive group than Tampa, but I think the physicality of their last series is wearing them down.
If the Lightning can take advantage of fatigue and stretch this series out, I think they win. I think Game Five will go a long way towards doing that here, and I expect them to finally come prepared.
