NHL Playoffs Picks: Rangers Caps Game Three
Did I mention how much I love this series? I think I did, but just in case – I LOVE THIS SERIES. Henrik Lundqvist’s career-long playoff futility, despite pretty strong numbers and a great roster around him, versus Alexander Ovechkin’s playoff futility, despite several impressive performances in huge games as he tries to carry a mediocre team to success. The immovable loser meets the unstoppable disappointment. I LOVE IT!
Beyond that, you have an incredible top-line pairing of the New York Rangers going against a top-heavy, two-player offense of the Washington Capitals. Holtby can be dominant, but so can Hank. The New York Rangers, for my money, are the better team here despite their inconsistencies in the postseason. I love the way the defense matches up, and the grinding, physical rivalry here will be a fun test for the speed to the Rangers.
I think you’ll see the Rangers burn out by the end of this series, but I think they have enough to win it. I don’t have them making the Stanley Cup Final, but I do think they’ve got enough to get through this round. This is going to be another typical Rangers Caps playoff series it looks like, and I’m excited to see how this plays out.
The computer has it as a coin flip, but I’m pretty happy with the way these teams match up. We’ll ride out the progression after a big win in Game Two.
