Stadium Series NHL Picks: New York Rangers Vs New York Islanders
The Stadium Series, which for me is little more than an NHL gimmick that takes the Winter Classic three steps too far, concludes with the Rangers and Islanders tonight in the second of the Rangers’ outdoor games this year. I’m actually excited for this game though, and love the line.
The New York Rangers are the better team this year in my opinion. The Islanders have been streaky, and are certainly capable of rising to the occasion on the big stage, but I don’t think they matchup well here. The line is favorable on a neutral field that will surely favor the Rangers. This should be fun, and I don’t think it will be as bad as the Devils-Rangers Stadium Series, but I think the Rangers will prevail. They’re the better roster, much better defense, better goalie, and have experience playing in the outdoor game.
The computer agrees, but only slightly. The lean is a slight one on the New York Rangers for a lack of value in the line. That said, the Rangers go into the algorithm as a road team in a neutral stadium, but in all likelihood this will feel like home to the Blue Shirts.
