NHL Picks: Nashville Predators at Winnipeg Jets
The Nashville Predators are one of the streakiest teams in hockey. They are again on a fantastic run, anchored in excellent goaltending in defense but finally scoring enough to be a viable Cup contender. 19 goals in their last four games and 25 in their last six show that this team can score in bunches. Lucky for them, the Winnipeg Jets give up goals in bunches.
Moreover, the Winnipeg Jets are also a streaky team. The Jets just dealt their best player to a playoff contender and are in rebuilding mode. Winnipeg gives up a lot of goals and plays a loose style of hockey.
In an open ice, chaotic, strange hockey game, I take the team with the better goalie, the better record, the better play of late, and the better roster overall. To me, -145 on the road is pretty reasonable for one of the hottest teams in hockey visiting one of the league’s worst.
Z-Code does not give full support to this one, so we will temper our expectations. With a 53% chance to win, but a score prediction that suggests the Winnipeg Jets will win here, this is a risky game. The computer actually shows some value on both teams, which suggests a close game and confusion in the computer outputs.
