NHL Picks: Minnesota Wild at Anaheim Ducks
The Minnesota Wild are a pretty good team. As I’ve said in countless NHL Picks Contest posts and game predictions, I am absolutely baffled by their sustained success at times. I also don’t understand how they can win so much and go into such a lengthy skid right now. The Minnesota Wild are a tough team to predict, because they have so much talent but lack superstar goaltending or defensive depth.
The Anaheim Ducks are probably the biggest disappointment in the NHL this season. Predictions for them to have one of the most successful seasons in recent memory in the Pacific Division have come up disastrously wrong. The Anaheim Ducks have had adequate goaltending, but this offense is in shambles this season. They are losing low scoring games all year.
That said, while the goaltending has remained constant, the Anaheim Ducks offense has picked up of late. They’re on a very long home stand here and waiting for the visiting Wild. Minnesota has had a few days to right the ship, but the Wild have lost a lot of hockey games over the past couple weeks.
I think that if the Anaheim Ducks have any hope of being the team we thought they would be, this is a must win game. Anaheim is the much better team overall on paper, and they have a huge advantage during this long home stand. They’re playing better and host a stumbling opponent. I’m on the Ducks in this one.
