NHL Picks: Edmonton Oilers at Tampa Bay Lightning

I know the line is a little sharp here but I’m basically using the idea of a progression from our baseball forums in an NHL hockey application. The Florida Panthers fell short last night in a system play for me, but the same ideas apply for me as the Edmonton Oilers take on the Tampa Bay Lightning on the road.

The Edmonton Oilers are a long way from home. They lost their best forward, which makes two top scorers now on the bench. They lack depth to begin with. The team is on a back to back after taking out a good team last night. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Lightning are lying in wait. I don’t see how the Edmonton Oilers pull off two upsets on the road in a back to back.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have really cleaned up their play. Ben Bishop is playing better and the offense has found more consistency. I still don’t like their defensive depth, but I’m unimpressed with the Edmonton Oilers roster right now. If the Lightning play a decent game, they should win comfortably.

Z-Code sees the game the same way despite the sharp line. The computer sees a five-star value in the line and gives a 73% chance of victory. The score predictor says 5-0 Bolts.

I agree, but I won’t go that crazy.
