NHL Picks: Edmonton Oilers at Dallas Stars
This line is a little sharp for my taste, but I’m on it because it fits the system everywhere except the line. I usually go with more modest favorites, but this looks good on all fronts. Let’s take a look:
Z-Code offers 4.5 stars of value in the line despite it being a little sharp, while suggesting a 62% chance of victory. I agree with this assessment.
The Dallas Stars seem to have turned a corner, while the Oilers are fresh off a FIVE GAME HOMESTAND where they lost all five games. The plummet has been disastrous for this young team, prone to streaky play. The Stars look better and have all the momentum. On home ice, they have the right to last change and can use matchup edges to get vulnerable players stuck out there. I think that will be all the difference.
Goaltending favors the home team, momentum is hugely in their favor, and I think they’re the much better team overall. The way Edmonton is playing, taking this dumpster fire to the road should continue to perpetuate bad play. I can’t see them snapping out of it.
