NHL Picks: Buffalo Sabres at Montreal Canadiens

The Buffalo Sabres have been better lately. Simply put, they are not the pushover that they were in the beginning of the season. That said, neither are the Montreal Canadiens, but probably not for the better. Still, the Habs have been winning games lately and look like the team we thought they would be when Carey Price was healthy.

I trust the Montreal Canadiens again. The Habs have lost a bunch of games lately, but they were very competitive out west and lost those games to great teams during a tough stretch of the schedule by a slim margin. I trust that this means the team is playing better than their current momentum and record might suggest.

Meanwhile, the Buffalo Sabres are playing their third game in four days. We made solid money in a non-featured pick when we took the Rangers to beat up on the Sabres in the second leg of this back to back. Now, with fatigue still an issue, on the road in a hostile environment, I think the Buffalo Sabres are at a significant disadvantage when they visit the Montreal Canadiens.

While I do not completely trust the Habs with confidence, I do like them for a small system pick here. The Habs are the better team and have a schedule advantage here while on home ice. The computer is not nearly as confident, giving just a 53% chance of victory and actually predicting a low confidence win from the Buffalo Sabres. Today, I will go my own way, but not with confidence.
