NHL Picks April 10: Nashville at Calgary in Featured Game

The NHL season is nearly set for playoff competition. There are still some regular season games remaining with a full schedule on April 10. The Panthers host the Maple Leafs in the headlined game.

New York Islanders versus Washington Capitals

The Islanders come into play 8th in the Eastern Conference, while the Capitals have been eliminated from playoff contention. New York is “average” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator and Washington is +13 versus +11 on the Power Ranks Indicator. The teams have been trending in games on opposite sides of the line, and the Score Predictor likes New York by a 3-2 score with 46 percent confidence. Both teams are consistently performing with regard to their favorite/underdog status. I like New York by two goals but pass on the over/under bet.

Nashville Predators versus Calgary Flames

Both teams come into play “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. In addition, both teams are battling for the last playoff spot along with Winnipeg in the Western Conference. Calgary has a +16 to +14 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator. Both teams are trending in games “over” the line, and the Score Predictor likes Calgary by a 3-2 score with 64 percent confidence. Nashville won both meetings between the teams this season. I like Calgary to end the streak, winning at home in a game “over” the line.

Vancouver Canucks versus Los Angeles Kings

The Kings have locked up a playoff spot, while the Canucks have been eliminated. Vancouver is “ice cold up” versus “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and Los Angeles has a +22 to +7 advantage on the Power Ranks Indicator. The teams have been trending in games “under” the line and the Score Predictor likes Los Angeles by a 4-3 score with 58 percent confidence. Vancouver has won two of the three games this season. I like Los Angeles to even the season series, but pass on the over/under bet.

Toronto Maple Leafs versus Florida Panthers

Toronto is 5th in the Eastern Conference and Florida is 7th. The Panthers are “burning hot” versus “average down” and Toronto has a +29 to +18 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator. The teams have been trending on opposite sides of the line and the Score Predictor likes Florida by a 4-2 score with 67 percent confidence. Toronto has won two of the three games played between the teams this season. Both teams are +14 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like Florida at home, perhaps needing overtime to do so, but pass on the over/under bet.
