NHL Picks and Predictions 10/16: Calgary Flames at Anaheim Ducks
The Calgary Flames have opened the season hot as anyone, but the Anaheim Ducks are a legitimate power in the west. Can the Flames keep this going, or will they inevitably regress to the mean?
Z-Code seems slightly unsure. The moneyline odds for the Ducks is at 69%, but there is a conflicted signal on the value stars. With only two stars of certainty, the computer algorithm is clearly conflicted.
For me, I feel like the money to be made on the early season lines is in guessing correctly about where teams will finish. I think the Rangers, for instance, are due to turn around. I also think the Flames are due to crash on their face.
WHile I don’t think the Ducks are the best team in the West, I do think they’re a contender. At home, against a bad Flames team, I’m on it.
