NHL Playoffs Picks: Anaheim Ducks at Calgary Flames, Game Three, Contest Pick
Duane is our contest leader, and he’s placed all his eggs in the Calgary Flames basket tonight. With a win, he’ll get to ten on the season and take home our $100 prize. As such, pretty much the entire rest of the contest pool is on the Anaheim Ducks. Good news, contest hopefuls – I’m on the Anaheim Ducks, too.
The Ducks have been the vastly superior team throughout this series. The goalie they let walk away has transformed the Calgary Flames into a legitimate playoff team, but Jonas Hiller has simply not shown up in the first two games of this series. The Ducks have shut down the Flames offense, but Calgary has been a great home team for years now. Even when we used to beat up on them, we were hesitant to bet them on home ice.
I can see the Flames bouncing back here. The Z-Code algorithm has slight conflict with the road favorite signal here that suggests a tempered wager at best. The Flames are better than they’ve shown the first two games and will be more comfortable here with nothing to lose and the energy of a full arena.
That said, the Ducks might just have too many weapons. I don’t think you’ll see a blowout again (unless Hiller has truly lost his game), but I think the Ducks have the edge.
