NFL Week 8 Thursday Night Football: Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans
The Jacksonville Jaguars are meeting the Tennessee Titans for a garbage-fest of thursday night football. Both teams have won two of their last three with those two wins being the only ones Jacksonville has managed to steal all season. Both teams have lost to essentially every decent team they’ve played with their wins coming from the likes of Cleveland, Miami, Chicago etc. At Z-Code we try to recommend to our followers that they avoid games exactly like this. When two bad teams play against each other there is little way to predict the outcome. Furthermore, these two bad teams are division rivals. This game could absolutely go any direction. I wouldn’t be surprised if either team won by three touchdowns if if it ended 9 to 6. So, officially, Z-Code is suggesting you don’t bet this game.
However, we at Z-Code are also realists and we understand that it’s Thursday night, there’s nothing else on and you want to bet on football. So we’re going to give you an analysis anyways.
The line is currently Titans -3 and over/under 43 points. Both teams are 4 overs and 2 unders in their last six games and the Jags are 50% ATS this season with the Titans only 28% ATS. The Titans are also only 16% ATS in their last 6 games at home and the Jags are 33% in their last 6 games on the road ATS. All in all these numbers make for a garbage fest of statistical analysis, but we have to pick a side somehow.
Neither team has a great defense though the Titans run-defense is surprisingly good. That doesn’t really matter though because Jacksonville can’t run the ball against anyone anyways. The Titans, on the other hand, have a talented QB a running back and a tight end as their offense. Expect Demarco Murray to carry this game as he has so many others this season. However, Jacksonville has weapons on offense and a QB who knows what he’s doing. They’re capable of putting up points if they can get enough of a run game going to keep the Titans on their toes.
However, its exactly that lack of running game that has made Jax struggle this season and has kept the Titans alive. I think Tennessee has the edge here in what will probably be an average scoring game with the potential to open up. If I were going to make a play on this game it would be a teaser with the Titans and the Over.
