NFL Week 15: Thursday Night Football

NFL Week 15: Thursday Night Football

Here we are in the closing weeks of the NFL regular season. There are many teams still vying for playoff positions and we’re in for some of the most exciting football of the year. However, tonight’s game is not going to be one of those games. The Seahawks need only win one of their next three to ensure a win in the NFC West. The Rams have absoultely no hope of making the playoffs in 2016. Tonight’s game, with a 16 point spread favoring Seattle (-1250 ML), should prove to be the game that secures their playoff berth. This is precisely the sort of game we would recommend not betting and here’s why. The Seahawks are favored by an absurd amount of points. Sixteen points is tough for any team to cover under any circumstances. Even blow-outs may end up coming in at under that spread because clock management and other game flow circumstances will dictate extra points to the losing team in “garbage time.” However, on the other side, the Rams are not a team to be trusted to cover any spread in the state they’re currently in. Their offense is abysmal- currently ranked dead last in the league- and they’re facing one of the best defenses in football on the road. There’s a decent chance the Rams don’t score at all this game.

However, it is Thursday night and this is the only game on. We understand you want to bet it and will bet it regardless so here’s our advice under the circumstances. We like Seattle -10 and over 33 in a 6 point teaser. There’s a chance Seattle puts up that 33 on its own and while its tempting to take the Rams at +22, we think Seattle could easily cover that spread too (just as Atlanta did last week and New Orleans did 3 weeks ago.
