NFL Week 1 kicks off this week with an incredible slate of games. The action begins on Thursday night with reigning Super Bowl winners, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers playing the Dallas Cowboys.
The action continues throughout the weekend with Monday Night Football closing out the games. For NFL Week 1, we have selected some choice cuts for the upcoming weekend of gridiron action. Let’s take a look at our NFL Week 1 picks.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccanneers will kick off the NFL season on Thursday night. The Bucs are favorites to win at a spread of -7.5 and an over/under of 52.0 points. The reigning Super Bowl champions went 5-3 at home in 2020.
The Dallas Cowboys, on the other hand, were 2-6 on the road and compiled an overall record of 6-10. CBS Sports’ prediction for the Cowboys is for them to win double the games in 2021 that they did in 2020. The team’s record prediction is 12-5. It is a favorable record for a team that was so bad a year ago. Part of the enthusiasm for a strong season is due to a weak Eastern Division.
The Bucs are also projected to have a 12-5 record. Tampa Bay is a much better team going into the game and Tom Brady should lead the Bucs to a Week 1 win. Zcode System’s score prediction favors the Cowboys, but I’m going against the prediction and betting on the Bucs at home.

Cleveland Browns vs. KC Chiefs
The reigning AFC Champions, the KC Chiefs, host the Cleveland Browns at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs are the bookies’ favorite to win Super Bowl LVI. Bet365 has KC Chiefs at odds of +450 to win the big game next year. The Browns, on the other hand, are at odds of +1400 to win Super Bowl LVI.
The Browns finished 2020 at 11-5 and qualified for the AFC Playoffs. The Chiefs were 14-2 and had the NFL’s best regular-season record. It was the Chiefs who eliminated the Browns from the playoffs last season. Patrick Mahomes was knocked out of the game with a concussion, but the Chiefs still won 22-17.
Cleveland had a positive away record in 2020 with five wins and three losses. The Chiefs’ home record of six wins and two losses. Kansas City has won four straight games against Cleveland going into the game. Our Zcode System score prediction has Kansas City winning this game and really, I can’t see anything other than Mahomes and company winning. The over/under is 53.0. The Browns and Chiefs should tally just under 53.0 points as KC wins.

Green Bay Packers vs. New Orleans Saints
NFL Week 1’s biggest match-up will be played between the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints. The game will be played at a neutral venue due to the hurricane issues in Louisiana. The game has been moved to Jacksonville, Florida with reports claiming the Saints wanted the game played there due prevent Packers fans from showing up.
The Packers posted a 13-3 record in 2020. They went 6-2 on the road and ended the 2020 season by winning six straight games. New Orleans went 12-4 in 2020. The Saints were 6-2 and home and 6-2 on the road. Sunday’s game will be more like a road game despite New Orleans being the home team in name only.
Green Bay won four of the last six games against New Orleans. That includes last season’s game as the Packers won 37-30 in New Orleans. Zcode System’s score prediction backs the Packers to win on Sunday. It should be a very competitive game. Green Bay is the bookies’ favorite and I’m backing an away win for the Packers.
