NFL Preseason Playoff Predictions: Packers, Seahawks, Cowboys

NFL Preseason Predictions: Complete NFC Playoffs Predictions

For me, the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks will be battling it out for the top seed in the NFC playoffs. I think the Green Bay Packers have a shot to take it all because their division is so weak and the Seahawks will have to battle such talented teams in the west. I think the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are playoff teams, but they start the next tier of competition in the conference. I like the Atlanta Falcons to control a horrible NFC South, and my wild card teams are the Eagles and Cardinals.

1. Seattle Seahawks (14-2): As I’ve said in earlier editions of our preseason predictions, the best team in football got better. If not for a horrible play call, the Seahawks would be a two-time defending champ coming into this year with expectations for a third championship. I think they take the top seed this year.

2. Green Bay Packers (13-3): The offense is balanced and Aaron Rodgers leads a high-powered offense. While I don’t think they have the defense to win a Super Bowl, I think they will have a very easy regular season in a poor division. The Packers are my second seed in the NFL playoffs this year.

3. Dallas Cowboys (11-5): The best team in that next tier of playoff contenders, I think the Dallas Cowboys win the division and take the third seed. They have a lot of questions this year, especially at running back, but that offensive line is the best in football and it should allow the Cowboys to plug anyone into the starting lineup. I’ve got them in the Wild Card round of the playoffs as the third seed.

4. Atlanta Falcons (10-6): I really like the Atlanta Falcons this year if they can stay healthy. They have a fun offense and the defense should be serviceable under a new coaching regime. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones are a dynamic force in a horrible NFC South, and I think the Falcons take the fourth seed this year.

5. Arizona Cardinals (10-6): I think the Cardinals would be division champions this year if not for those pesky Seahawks clogging up the top of the west. Arizona has a great defense and the offense is healthy. If not for that quarterback collapse last year, the Cardinals might have been a Super Bowl contender. The top wild card spot is a reasonable expectation for a very good team in a tough division.

6. Philadelphia Eagles (10-6): Who else? Maybe the Rams? This is a decent team that should be competitive this year. I expect the Eagles to sneak into the playoffs despite inconsistent play across the board.
