NFL Picks Week One: Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens

NFL Picks Week One: Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens

I really like this game. We got in when the line jumped up and bought it to 3.5, but I also like it at two points right now, buying it to three and taking the money line. The computer has some conflicting parameters that we’ll address, but this should be a telling game for the AFC North.

The Ravens will be without Ray Rice after a domestic dispute, putting it lightly, got him suspended for the first two games. The platoon that was so ineffective last year will be halved. I don’t think Joe Flacco has the weapons to pick apart a stout Bengals defense. I expect Cincy to control the Baltimore Ravens with relative ease, even on the road.

The question for me comes down to whether the Bengals can move the ball effectively. I like Andy Dalton and he has some weapons. Gio Bernard gives them balance. Ultimately, I think Cincy is the much better team and +3 is a good line on the road.

The computer has a split output. Perhaps a little bit of conflict is driven from preseason results that mean very little. The Bengals are a huge favorite to win against a very small spread, yet only a 37% favorite to win the game. I think the computer is conflicted and should be disregarded here.

Either way, I expect a battle. I’m just siding with the value of the better team on the road.
