A third of the NFL season is over, and teams are looking to find themselves for a second-half playoff run. Some games feature divisional rivals, but the game of the week is a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.
Houston Texans versus Green Bay Packers
The Texans are 5-1 and “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Packers are also “burning hot” and enter with a 4-2 record. Green Bay is a 2.5-point home favorite with odds of 1.645 to 2.3 with an over/under of 47.5. The score prediction is 30-17 in favor of Green Bay with nearly 80 percent confidence. Houston has a +26 to +23 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator. The Packers have a +41 to +8 scoring differential edge and have also covered the spread in four of the last five as favorites. I like the Packers by a touchdown but pass on the over/under bet.
Philadelphia Eagles versus New York Giants
In this NFC East divisional showdown, the Eagles come in with a 3-2 record and the Giants enter with a 2-4 mark. Philadelphia is a 3.5-point favorite with odds of 1.588 to 2.45 with an over/under of 42.5. The teams are trending in games “under” the line with a score prediction of 24-11 in favor of the Eagles with 62 percent confidence. Both teams have a negative scoring differential. Philadelphia is “average” versus “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +12 to +9 on the Power Ranks Indicator. Neither team is consistent regarding their favorite/underdog status. The Eagles are a 3-star pick and will go with them to win and cover in a game “under” the line.
Detroit Lions versus Minnesota Vikings
In this NFC North battle, both teams enter “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and Detroit has a +27 to +24 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator. Minnesota is a 1.5-point home favorite with odds of 1.8 to 2.05 with an over/under of 50.5. The teams are trending in games “under” the line despite the Lions putting up 47 on Dallas last week. The Vikings have won their last eight and the Lions have covered in their last five as underdogs. The Lions won both games between the teams last season. I like the hot streak to continue for the Lions in a game “over” the line.
Kansas City Chiefs versus San Francisco 49ers
In a rematch of Super Bowl LVIII, the Chiefs enter undefeated and the 49ers are first in the NFC West at 3-3. The 49ers are 1.5-point home favorites with odds of 1.8 to 2.050 with an over/under of 47.5. Kansas City is “burning hot” versus “average status”, +25 to +11 on the Power Ranks Indicator, and +33 to +32 scoring differential edge. The teams are trending on opposite sides of the “over/under” line but the projection for under is nearly 97 percent. The Chiefs have been extremely stable, coming in at +5 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Chiefs in a road win by a field goal in a game “under” the line.
