NFL Picks November 8: Dolphins versus Cardinals headline action

The midpoint of the NFL season is upon us and the Steelers are the only undefeated team in the league. There are several key games on the schedule for this week and will feature the Miami Dolphins versus the Arizona Cardinals in an interconference game.

Miami Dolphins versus Arizona Cardinals

The Dolphins head into play with a 4-3 record and face the 5-2 Cardinals, who have won their last three. Both teams are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator, while the Cardinals have a +26 to +13 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Cardinals are a 1.51 to 2.61 favorite with an “over/under” of 47.5.  If considering the “over/under”, the teams are trending on opposite sides of the line, therefore it’s best to avoid that bet. According to the Team Volatility Oscillator, the Cardinals have been unstable and the Dolphins have been more consistent according to their favorite/underdog status. Look for the Cardinals to take care of business at home and win the game.

Carolina Panthers versus Kansas City Chiefs

The Panthers have dropped their last three and are 3-5 on the season. They are “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +12 on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Chiefs enter at 7-1 and are “burning hot” and +30 on the Power Ranking Indicator. Kansas City is a huge favorite at 1.19 to 4.88 with an “over/under” of 52.5. The Totals Predictor indicates the teams are trending on opposite sites of the line. Note that the Chiefs are also more consistently performing according to their favorite/underdog status. There is little to indicate the  Panthers can win this game. I will go with the Chiefs in a comfortable win.

Baltimore Ravens versus Indianapolis Colts

The Ravens are coming off a tough loss to the Steelers, while the Colts improved to 5-2 with their second straight win. The Ravens have a +29 to +14 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator, and the Colts are “burning hot” against “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Baltimore is a road favorite at 1.62 to 2.335 with an “over/under” of 44.5. Expect a low scoring game according to the Totals Predictor, so betting the “under” is a smart play. Both teams have shown good stability, at +3 and +4 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. This looks like a game where the Ravens can get back on track, in a close contest.

Houston Texans versus Jacksonville Jaguars

This AFC South game is to avoid the basement in the division. Both teams come in at 1-6 and both “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Texans have a +4 to +1 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator and are 1.31 to 3.46 road favorites. The “over/under” on this game is 51.5 but it’s best to avoid this bet because the teams are trending on opposite sides of the line. Houston is the more stable team, meaning they are playing more consistent according to their favorite/underdog status. Look for the Texans to hand the Jaguars their seventh consecutive loss.

New Orleans Saints versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers

In an NFC South battle, the first place Buccaneers host the second place Saints. Both teams are “burning hot” and Tampa Bay holds a +23 to +17 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. Tampa Bay is a 1.51 to 2.105 favorites with an “over/under” of 54.5. Both teams have been involved in high scoring games, so betting the “over” is a smart play. Not surprisingly, the teams have both been stable according to the Team Volatility Oscillator,  The Saints won the first meeting between the teams this season by the score of 34-23. Expect the Buccaneers to even the score in this one in a shootout.
