NFL Picks: Sunday Night Football – New England Patriots at San Diego Chargers

The resurrection of Tom Brady has been interesting to watch (especially for someone who traded for him in fantasy). He’s been mediocre on the road all year, but puts together some incredible games at home. That said, this game is in San Diego, and the fair weather of southern California means if trends continue Brady will finish with about 250 passing yards tonight.

San Diego has an impressive offense and are among the most volatile teams in the league. They can explode for 40+, or they can stumble. At home, but against a great team, I don’t think there’s anyway to know who will show up.

The Patriots, on the other hand, are always prepared. I think they can exploit some matchups on offense and continue to run the ball. I also think that their incredible record coming off a loss and strong Decembers bode well. New England is in position to take a number one seed and use those home games to their advantage. I know it’s counter-intuitive to bet their need for home games as motivation for a game on the road, but they’re the better team and the top seed is in sight.

I’m buying the hook.
