NFL Picks: Minnesota Vikings at Arizona Cardinals, TNF

NFL Picks: Minnesota Vikings at Arizona Cardinals, Thursday Night Football

When I went to bed, the Arizona Cardinals were -8.5 against the Minnesota Vikings. I woke up and the line had jumped past 10 points. I really like the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals have made me a lot of money this year. I imagine this is what a pimp feels like about a girl who has performed well after taking her under his wing and teaching her the tools of the trade. Like any good pimp, you have to know what’s really going on if you’re going to bet the NFL.

The public knows about my Cardinals now. Vegas responded, sure, so they don’t really like money pouring in on the home team on a short week, but Arizona is a favorite for the masses and that makes them very difficult to trust. These hoes ain’t loyal.

The Minnesota Vikings are actually a good team. If they can maintain this unexpected start for a few more weeks they will make the playoffs again. Teddy Bridgewater has managed the game appropriately and Adrian Peterson has been dominant. The defense is solid. The running game controls the pace and keeps them fresh. This is a good team, even if we didn’t think so to start the year.

The Arizona Cardinals are dominating what might be one of the most difficult divisions in football. I love this team. They have three capable running backs, three capable receivers, a quarterback that is excelling in the twilight of a solid career, and a fun defense. This secondary is aggressive and they generate enough of a rush by mixing up the blitz and relying on their cornerbacks and safeties. I stand by it, I like the Cardinals to make a Super Bowl run as long as Carson Palmer stays healthy.

So why am I nervous tonight? The line moved with 58% of the spread money coming in on the Cardinals. It moved a lot. You can get the Vikings at +10.5 and that is a lot of points for such a run-heavy offense with such a decent defense. The money line is about 4:1, which makes sense given the line. Vegas still reacted. They want nothing to do with this one. Neither do I.

I think the Vikings can keep it close. We’re in on the money line in a parlay and a teaser back when this line was a little prettier. Bet with caution, my friends, but the computer says 82% chance of victory and four stars of value, so I’m in. Just remember – pimpin’ ain’t easy. The game changed. Don’t bet the house on the Cardinals – the days of us being ahead of the Arizona-Vegas curve are long behind us.
