NFL Picks December 5: Ravens at Steelers Battle in AFC North

The NFL season has reached the home stretch and playoff positions are yet to be decided. There is a full slate of games scheduled for this week with AFC North rivals Ravens and Steelers headlining the action.

Baltimore Ravens versus Pittsburgh Steelers

In this classic AFC North battle, the Steelers host the Ravens.  Baltimore is a 4.5-point road favorite with odds of 1.45 to 2.692 and an over/under of 44.5. The Ravens have a +27 to +18 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot” versus “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Score Predictor has the Ravens with a 35-16 blowout win with a confidence of 54 percent. Neither team has been extremely stable, according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Ravens to win and cover, but avoid the over/under.

Los Angeles Chargers versus Cincinnati Bengals

AFC West meets AFC North in this showdown. The Bengals enter as a 3.5-point favorite with odds of 1.59 to 2.352 with an over/under of 50.5. Los Angeles has a +20 to +19 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Score Predictor has the Bengals in a 37-8 win but with only 40 percent confidence. The Totals Predictor shows the teams are trending in games on opposite sides of the line. Note that neither team is showing much stability on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Bengals at home but in a might tighter game. Pick the Bengals to win and cover, but pass on the over/under.

Washington Football Team versus Las Vegas Raiders

Washington enters Las Vegas “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Nevertheless, the Raiders are a 2.5-point home favorite with odds of 1.69 to 2.136 with an over/under of 49.5. The Score Predictor has the Raiders 25-16 with 57 percent level of confidence. Washington has a slim +10 to +9 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Team Volatility Oscillator shows the Raiders at -3, meaning they have been inconsistently performing according to their favorite/underdog status. Even so, I like the Raiders to win and cover, betting “under” the line.

San Francisco 49ers versus Seattle Seahawks

In the NFC West battle, the 49ers enter Seattle “burning hot” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The 49ers are 3.5-point road favorites with odds of 1.55 to 2.42 with an over/under of 45.5. The Score Predictor likes the 49ers in a high-scoring blowout, 40-17 with a confidence of 78 percent. San Francisco has a +16 to +2 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. There is little to believe that the Seahawks can stay competitive in this game. Look for a 49ers win and cover, betting “over” the line.

Denver Broncos versus Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs are starting to rise to the top of a tight AFC West and host divisional rival Denver. Kansas City is “burning hot” versus “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator and has a +26 to +11 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. Kansas City is a huge 9.5-point favorite with odds of 1.21 to 4.2 and an over/under of 47.5. The Score Predictor has the Chiefs by the score of 29-20, which would make Denver cover, with confidence in the prediction of 57 percent. I like the Chiefs to win and cover, but avoid the “over/under” bet.
