NFL Picks: Cincinnati Bengals at Arizona Cardinals

I like the Arizona Cardinals a lot this year. We rode them in the beginning of the season and won a lot of money. This aggressive defense makes a lot of plays while the offense is balanced enough to win games. They have a great running back tandem with the emergence of Chris Johnson and a healthy Andre Ellington. Larry Fitzgerald leads a big group of excellent receivers, and Carson Palmer is carrying this offense to a new level of efficiency.

The Cincinnati Bengals are a great team in their own right. The Bengals were unbeaten coming into last week’s tough loss against a good team. They have two great running backs, arguably better than those of the Cardinals. They have a good defense – less aggressive than the Cardinals but probably more effective overall. AJ Green and Andy Dalton have a solid connection, though the receivers have slightly less depth than the Cardinals’ group.

Ultimately, this is a battle of two elite teams. The team I think might be slightly more balanced overall is on the road, and the Arizona Cardinals defense forces a lot of mistakes. The noise could get to Andy Dalton in a big game.

The computer and I are in agreement here on Sunday Night Football. There is only very limited value in this game. A 54% chance of victory for the Cardinals sounds about right to me. I think they win, but I’m not sure they can cover and I see no value in the spread.
